About Us

We are a team of volunteers who believe that through the power of community collaborations, we can improve the lives of many.

The Pacific Northwest Seattle Gambian Association (PNWSGA) is a nonprofit organization serving Gambian families throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Our mission is to promote cross-cultural understanding, good citizenship, and sustainable community development through social programs, environmental stewardship, civic and educational initiatives.

Through youth engagement, cultural preservation, leadership development, and strategic partnerships, we work to strengthen families and create opportunities that support long-term community prosperity.

How we do it

We raise funds primarily through community donations, grants, and fundraising events. These resources are reinvested directly into the community to support initiatives such as purchasing school supplies for children, organizing cultural programs, and hosting youth and family activities.

What We’ve Done

  • Organized community car wash fundraising events.
  • Hosted cultural events featuring Senegambian musicians, including Jaliba Kuyateh.
  • Organized family and recreational gatherings, including Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Gala Dinners, Eid celebrations, BBQs, and Back-to-School events.
  • Shipped medical supplies to The Gambia.
  • Donated a full shipping container of relief items to The Gambia.
  • Provided direct assistance to community members by helping cover essential expenses such as medical bills, utility payments, and immigration-related fees.
  • Hosted multiple community support drives, including mask drives, food drives, and vaccine outreach drives.

Our Mission

Our mission is to promote cross cultural understanding, good citizenship and development through social programs, education programs and environmental sustainability programs.
Whether it is children’s back to school programs, food drives, National Independence celebrations, or educative community workshops, we believe that together we can bring prosperity to our community.
